How To Open Spray Bottle Nozzle To Fix Problems

Keeping everything neat and tidy! Many of you believe in this mantra. Numerous household cleaning items are stored in spray bottles. The bottles are considered suitable to clean different corners of your home.

However, most of you face difficulty in using the last of the remaining liquid. There are many more drawbacks of a spray bottle. Most of which start with the bottle nozzle. Often the nozzle can clog, causing the spray bottle to become redundant. But the good news is there are many solutions to these problems.

In this article, we will let you know how to open a spray bottle nozzle to clean or refill it.

How to Open Spray Bottle Nozzle to Fix It?

I disassembled a typical spray bottle and figured out that fluid flows in a single direction to the nozzle from the tank where it is stored.

However, before opening a the nozzle to fix it, let us know the working principle of it.

The Dynamics of a Spray Bottle:

It often comes handy to limit the flow of a fluid to a single direction only. This is very evident in the case of spray bottles. Consider an ordinary spray bottle which consists of mainly three components.

The first is the reservoir or tank that stores the fluid. The next component is the staging area of the fluid which will be sprayed. And the third component is the nozzle which is linked to outside space where the liquid will be dispersed.

The fluid flow from the tank to the staging area and sprayed through the nozzle to outside. The fluid is a critical and essential word for this context. When we use the word “fluid”, we are referring to a substance which can flow. This also means that the particles inside the substance are not fixed or stationary.

Based on this definition, we can refer to gases and liquids as fluids. It is crucial to emphasize the particles because of their ability to move. These particles are the capability of moving and collide against each other by themselves.

A Clearer Picture:

The main interaction of a user occurs at the trigger of the spray bottle.

The trigger is just a regular lever which has a plunger attached to it. As soon as the trigger is pushed or pressed, a force is applied, the fluid leads to flow.

After the trigger is released, the spring forces the fluid back and attracts the liquid to the staging region from the tank. Thus, enabling the cycle to carry on when the trigger is pulled the next time.

How it works and why?

A couple of key things are occurring on this occasion. Firstly, when pressure is applied to the fluid through the plunger, fluid travels solely through the nozzle and reaches outside. This would not have an effective outcome if the fluid returned back to the tank. This would only mean a device that is capable of drawing liquid or gas from the tank and then forces it back.

When the trigger is released, it must ensure that the staging region is refilled from the tank or reservoir. When it comes to a water spray bottle, the fluid outside is usually air. If the air managed to get inside the staging area, any attempt to spray would push the air back. As a result, spraying out that small amount of air would not serve the function.

The Problems and Solutions:

These couple of problems is dealt with by utilizing simple connection which enables the fluid to be transmitted in a single direction only. By establishing a one-way connection between the staging area and the tank, we no longer need to be concerned about fluid travelling back. This is the solution to the first of our concerns.

Fixing the Nozzle

We can create another connection in the nozzle in a way that the fluid can only travel towards the nozzle from the staging region. As a result, the air will no longer be able to penetrate or enter the staging area when the trigger is in a relaxed state.

Fixing The Spring

It is possible to design a secure one-direction connection by three crucial components.  These components are a cylinder with a hole at one end, a ball and a spring.

The spring will be involved in keeping the ball pressed against the circular-shaped hole. Thus the ball will block entry to any fluid and stop the penetration through that holeThus there will be no room for the liquid to flow and reach towards the left.

The Plunger

Next, when pressure is applied on the left side by using a plunger, the fluid will be forced to be pushed against the ball. When the pressure from the left is stronger, the ball will be pushed back, enabling some of the fluid from the left side to get out via the hole.

The fluid easily travels to the right from the left. When the pressure is no longer being applied, the force on the right side becomes stronger and begins to dominate again. As a result, the ball is forced back against that hole, and a seal is formed.

Pressure Control

We are now focusing the subject of pressure that is exerted by a fluid. This pressure may be used by a liquid, a gas or any other form of fluid. However, the concept of pressure remains the same for all. If we can make sure that pressure is exerted on one side, the fluid can also be made to be flown in a single direction.
