Season 1 Summary of Game of Thrones

Season 1 of Game of Thrones makes the fantasy and epic fans acquainted with the ruthless and ferocious world of Westeros and the extent to which everyone is willing to go to win the coveted Iron Throne.

The story starts like—an ancient order that guards the Wall to the North of Westeros, called the Night’s Watch, finds out that a supernatural creature known as a White Walker, which was earlier thought to be imaginary, has been in the forest.

Meanwhile, what elsewhere is happening is Ned Stark who is the Warden of the North, he and his daughters Sansa and Arya Stark leave their home in Winterfell to become the new Hand of the King Robert Baratheon! It is so because the previous Hand of the King known as Jon Arryn was suddenly dead.

For the death of the previous hand of the king, who was held allegedly responsible is none other than King Robert’s wife, Cersei Lannister!

Subsequently, Ned’s son Bran Stark in his visit from the Lannister’s to the North, sees Cersei in a compromising position in bed with her brother Jaime. This leads to a fight between the two and in the event, Jaime throws Bran from a tower window, leaving him paralyzed.

In due course, Tyrion Lannister travels with Ned’s illegitimate son Jon Snow to bring to light more about the White Walker incident which was reported by the Night’s watch. In doing so, Jon becomes a brother of the Night’s Watch to stay on with the founded ancient order.

Whereas, Tyrion for being held responsible for Bran’s fall according to the understanding of Catelyn Stark is arrested at his request. Catelyn this way triggers a trial by combat to secure Tyrion’s release. He is imprisoned in the Vale right under the Surveillance of Catelyn’s sister Lysa Arryn. There, he appeals to Bronn to fight for him in the trial and Bronn agrees. Eventually, Bronn defeats Lysa’s selected champion.

Meanwhile, King Robert is deathly injured in a dubious hunting accident, leading Ned to be named Protector of the Realm. It is until and unless Cersei’s vicious son Joffrey comes of age.

But, Ned in his stead comes to a conclusion to give the position to Stannis Baratheon who is the King’s no longer affectionate brother.  Then, in the due course, Ned is let-down by Lord Petyr Baelish who is known as Littlefinger and beheaded on Joffrey’s command.

After witnessing her father’s execution, on one hand, where Sansa Stark is seized by the Lannisters, Arya on the other hand, manages to run securely. In revenge, Ned’s son Robb against the Lannisters, assembles the armies of the North after being named as king of Winterfell.

On the flip side, across the Narrow Sea Dothraki Warlord Khal Drogo weds Daenerys Targaryen who strongly believes herself the legitimate heir to the Iron Throne.  She plans and plots a strike on Westeros but unfortunately her husband, in return, is killed after being cursed. Then, Daenerys takes revenge for him and in the course of time hatches three dragon eggs that were gifted to her in her wedding.

Season 7 Summary of Game of Thrones

This second last season of Game of Thrones comes at a very interesting twist. Daenerys along with her army of Unsullied and Dothraki boarded the Greyjoy’s ships in order to travel to the Dragonstone which was previously home to Stannis Baratheon.

Melisandre in her quest for the throne takes an initiative to start off a relationship between Darnerys and Jon by persuading the Mother of Dragons that it will definitely be beneficial to have Jon as an ally.

Thus, Jon after getting an invitation travels to meet Daenerys in Dragonstone, and they form a close-bond pair. Then, they plan and plot with a sole motive to defeat both the Lannisters and White Walkers. Subsequently, Yara and its unsullied armed forces are transmitted to King’s landing.

In the fight, Drogon who’s one of the Darnerys dragons is brutally injured in the fight and spotting the dragon, Cersei is warned by Jaime for Daenerys’ power and thus, Jon and Daenerys both call a truce with Cersei.

The next scene shows Euron Greyjoy proposed to by Cersei who tries to sway her desire by setting out to defeat his niece Yara and her invading armed force.  On the flip side, Dothraki and Lannister armies clashed with Jamie, who led his house battalion.

Later, the pair heads towards the Wall with a motive to capture a White Walker. However, Jon falls prey to the Night King and then, Darnerys comes to his rescue, and successfully saves him. Albeit, they imprisoned a White Walker but in doing so, they lose Viserion—the Daenerys’ dragon who is converted into an ice Dragon by none other than the Night King.

Subsequently, after returning to King’s Landing, both Jon and Daenerys decide to team up with Cersei in order to conquer the threat of the White Walker army by escorting their White Walker to convince her. The meeting with Cersei was held and when Daenerys and Jon return to Winterfell, they both surrender their feelings for each other and sleep together that night.

On the other hand, Stark sisters Arya and Sansa finally reunite with Bran at Winterfell. However, the tension among both the sisters arises and Littlefinger takes control over the situation which soon gets exposed by Bran. He told the girls about how big the liar and betrayer the Littlefinger is! He revealed that it was Littlefinger who killed the original Hand of the King, Jon Arryn, which triggered all events from the beginning. Hearing all this, one of the sisters Sansa gives order to the other i.eArya to go ahead and kill Littlefinger. She did exactly the same as he slit his throat.

Meanwhile, Bran with his powers tries to learn Jon’s exact heritage. Upon which he gets to know that Jon is not Ned Stark’s illegitimate child as everyone was told before. Instead, Jon is a Targaryen with an unerring claim to the Iron Throne.

In the last scenes, the Night King and White Walker army breached the Wall with the support of the Ice Dragon, Viserion. The dragon blasts the Wall with his icy shard-like breath. So, the Stark’s motto comes true and winter has come!

Season 8 Summary of Game of Thrones

The finale season of this series revolves mainly around the two main battles where one is for the Iron Throne, the other one is against the army of the dead.

To start the first half of the season, the Northern army, Darnerys’ and Wildlings, all joined their hands together as they have the same motive of killing Night King and dead walkers.  Soon, the battle between the Dead walkers and the Northern Army starts, in which Melisandre tries her best to hold the troops by lighting the fire.

Subsequently, Bran claims that Night King will come to kill him and hence, Theon along with Ironborn offer him the protection. However, Night King kills Theon and later on also tries to kill Bran as he himself predicted.

Unfortunately, Night King didn’t succeed as Arya in between kills the Night King with her Valerian Sword.

After this, Arya and Gendry come closer whilst Jaime and Brienne become true lovers. In the course of time, Jon finally reveals his true identity to Arya, Daenerys and Sansa. However, Daenerys, on hearing that, asks him to keep his identity a secret until she fulfills her motive of winning the Iron Throne.

Oppositely, Sansa doesn’t agree with Daenerys and as she wants Jon to be the King, she reveals the secret of his true identity to Tyrion— who then reveals the same to Varys.

Now, comes the second half of this final season which surrounds the ultimate battle for the Iron Throne. In order to claim the same, Daenerys along with Arya, Jaime, Brienne, Jon and also with her dragons, reaches the King’s landing!

On their arrival, Euron attacked the Darnerys’ army and by doing so, not only took Missandei as a hostage but also killed her in front of Daenerys. This led Daenerys to be angry as hell. She in her angry mode then burns out the whole city to the ashes with her Dragon fire. Also, she slaughters lots of civilians and sees the cruel actions of Darnerys, Tyrion and Jon literally get horrified. Though horrified, Jon succeeds in killing Darnerys.

Later, in the battle, Cersei and Jaime also died and Tyrion got arrested for Treason. And, the Angry Dragon melted the Iron Throne— for whom this ultimate battle has taken place.

In closing, Bran becomes the new King; Sansa becomes the Queen of the Independent Winterfell; Jon goes back to the Castle; Arya travelled to the west of Westeros; Tyrion becomes the Hand of the King to form a new council with Bron, Davos, Sam and Brienne with a motive of the betterment and advancement of the King’s landing. This is how at the end of the story, justice is served!
